A fugitive was arrested last night after a car chase with Virginia State Police in which he hit the cars of two state troopers and another vehicle, state police say.
Spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Cotten said the incident began at 7:17 p.m. on I-264 in the Brambleton Avenue area of Norfolk when a 2008 Chrysler Aspen SUV was clocked by a state trooper doing 70 mph in a 50 mph zone.
Cotten said the driver headed west through the downtown tunnel with the trooper in pursuit, turned around and went east on I-264 back through the downtown tunnel. The driver got on I-64 and turned around again in the 15th View Street area.
The Chrysler struck the cars of two state troopers and another driver before it was stopped by police near Battlefield Boulevard in Chesapeake, Cotten said.
The Chrysler's driver, Brandon King, 25, from Norfolk who was wanted on assault and stolen vehicle charges, was charged with hit and run, reckless driving, eluding police, felony hit and run and damaging state property.
Cotten said nobody was injured in the chase.
