FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police say they have apprehended a man who led an officer on a high-speed chase in a stolen car.
Police say they arrested 36-year-old Hamin Al-Hajj of Charlottesville on Monday after an almost 20-minute pursuit. Al-Hajj has been charged with two counts of felony hit & run, eluding police in Prince William and Fairfax counties and auto larceny, among other charges.
Police say the pursuit began around 7 a.m. on Interstate 95 south when a state trooper tried to stop Al-Hajj for driving with an improperly displayed rear license plate. Police say Al-Hajj drove at high speeds and hit two other cars before he lost control.
Authorities say no one was injured in the chase.
They say the car Al-Hajj was driving had been reported stolen from Charlottesville on Sunday.
