Indiana State Police Trooper Injured in Accident

At approximately 4:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon, Indiana State Police Trooper Clifton Elston got into an accident on U.S. 421, about a mile south of Versailles. He lost control of his 2006 Ford Crown Victoria and was struck broadside by a car traveling in the opposite direction.
Trooper Elston suffered multiple legs fractures and fractured ribs. He was transported to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis by medical helicopter where he is now listed in stable condition.
Four people in the car were taken to a hospital in Madison, Indiana for cuts, bruises and other injuries.
The accident remains under investigation. Weather is thought to be a factor at this point.
