| Trooper - State of Florida, FL Position Type Position Title Trooper Trooper Requirements/Overview
Applicants must be: at least 19 years old; a U.S. citizen; have a valid driver's license; a high school graduate; and willing to serve anywhere in Florida.
Preference is given to applicants with 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of college course work from an accredited college or university or; U.S. military personnel with two years of service and an honorable discharge or; Florida certified sworn law enforcement officers with one year of experience.
Physical Requirements Weight in proportion to height. Vision: correctable to 20/30, with normal color distinguishing capabilities and a 140-degree field of vision. Each applicant must pass the Physical Ability Test (PAT).
Required Evaluations Applicants must pass written, polygraph, psychological, and physical examinations; a background investigation; a credit check and a drug screen.

Salary Annual starting: $33,977.04 ($38,976.84 in Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Lee and Collier counties.)

All uniforms and an annual cleaning allowance, equipment, weapons, and take-home patrol car are provided.
Academy Paid training ($2,514.88 monthly). All new Troopers complete a 30-week training academy. A 9-week transitional academy is offered for Florida certified law enforcement officers. The Florida Highway Patrol offers the finest law enforcement training in a para-military atmosphere. Physical fitness training, is provided daily, as are lodging, meals and study materials.
