L'ANSE TOWNSHIP -- Authorities say a Michigan State Police trooper has fatally shot a man suspected in the slaying of a 23-year-old woman on the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community reservation in the Upper Peninsula.
The trooper spotted the suspect's vehicle Thursday night as tribal police and the FBI were investigating the woman's death.
Police say the trooper pursued the suspect's vehicle, which crashed into another vehicle in Baraga County's L'Anse Township. Police say the trooper tried to arrest the suspect, and opened fire when the suspect lunged toward the trooper.
