Wilmington Post receives new commander
Lt. John J. Tibbs of Williamsburg is the new post commander at the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Wilmington Post following his promotion to the rank of lieutenant recently by Col. Richard H. Collins, patrol superintendent. Tibbs will transfer from the Batavia Post where he has served as a sergeant and assistant post commander since October 2005.

Tibbs joined the patrol in February 1989 as a cadet dispatcher assigned to Georgetown. He began training in May 1990 as a member of the 120th Academy Class, earned his commission the following February and was assigned to Wilmington. While there he was twice recognized by his peers as Post Trooper of the Year; first in 1994 then again in 1998. In October 1998 he earned a promotion to sergeant and transferred to Batavia. He later transferred to Wilmington before returning to Batavia in October 2005.
Tibbs resides in Williamsburg with is wife, Breva and their two daughters.
