Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - PC, Xbox, Gamecube, PS2
Released: November 2003

The story is simple, you are the Prince of Persia, and after your father sacks an Indian lord, your kingdom acquires a giant hourglass filled with the Sands of Time. After being tricked to open the hourglass with the Dagger of Time, you, as the Prince, must undo the chaos unleashed by the Sands. Just about everyone turns into a "sand monster" by the Sands of Time, and using the Dagger, you must fight your way through a palace full of traps, puzzles, and monsters.

With the Dagger of Time, you gain the ability to Rewind and Slow down time. If you fall down and kill yourself, you can rewind the game to a point where you may correct your mistake. You can also gain deadly attacks by slowing the world around you, while you blaze at super speeds. In addition to this, the Prince is a very well-kept athlete. He isn't big or burly, but he can fight well and can do very acrobatic stunts. Some of these stunts are quite exaggerated (such as running on walls) but going through the environments while climbing trees, swinging ropes, or scaling massive towers, really adds to the satisfaction of getting through obstacles. The sword fighting is very fluid. You can easily take on up to 3 monsters at once. Killing an enemy requires to absorb them into your dagger. This not only vanquishes the foe, but replenishes your Dagger's time powers.

The only downside to this game....its length. I just beat it and clocked in under 6 hours, but the game isn't new, and is certainly worth the low price point (its cheaper than a lunch for 3 people).

The game is also backwards compatible on all 3 major consoles, plus it is available on PC. So there really is no excuse. Go buy. Do it now.

Score: 8/10
