HELENA - A new deputy chief of the Montana Highway Patrol, Butch Huseby, was sworn in Tuesday by Attorney General Steve Bullock.
The patrol commander, Col. Mike Tooley, introduced Huseby as deputy chief with the rank of lieutenant colonel in the patrol. As deputy chief, Huseby will be responsible for overseeing the activities of the Highway Patrol's uniformed forces statewide.
Huseby was sworn in as a Highway Patrol trooper in December 1993. Before joining the patrol he was a member of the U.S. Air Force and the Helena Police Department. Huseby has been stationed in Sidney, Great Falls, Circle, Havre and most recently Helena.
Huseby succeeds Tooley as the second-in-command of the Montana Highway Patrol. Tooley was sworn in as the 17th Chief of the Patrol in January.
