NAPLES — Proof of insurance please.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating why one of its patrol cars ended up striking the side of the Naples Insurance Agency Inc. building Friday morning along U.S. 41 North next to Wynn’s Market.
Around 9:30 a.m. Naples police were called to the agency, 99 U.S. 41 N., by a caller that said a police car struck the building. There did not appear to be any serious injuries in the crash.
When police arrived they found the car actually belonged to the FHP.
“The Florida Highway Patrol advised they had their own personnel en route to investigate the case,” Naples police spokesman Michael Herman said. “It was turned over to them.”
A chunk of the wall next to the front door is missing, and a mangled gate is lying next to the building. No one answered the door at the insurance agency shortly after 5 p.m. on Friday.
Attempts to reach the Florida Highway Patrol for comment were unsuccessful.
