BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The former executive director of the state police commission pleaded not guilty in court Tuesday.
Debra Johnson is charged with felony theft and malfeasance in office.
She's accused of using her state purchasing card to buy more than $18,000 worth of items for her own use. The attorney general's office is prosecuting the case.
Johnson was originally booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish prison on one charge of theft and one charge of malfeasance in office on May 12, 2008.
It was later discovered that she allegedly stole from the commission to pay for medicine and computers.
