One played professional basketball in Greece. Three are women. Thirty-three are military veterans.
What the 173 men and women who will gather today in West Sacramento have in common is that they are the latest crop of California Highway Patrol graduates, the ones who remained from an original class of 240 cadets that entered the academy Nov. 10, 2008.
The 90-minute graduation ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the CHP Academy, 3500 Reed Ave.
Family members will pin badges on graduates, who come from throughout the state and are assigned to work at eight divisions, sometimes far from their hometowns.
From the Sacramento region, there are five cadets from Sacramento, four from Roseville, two from Orange-vale and one each from Weimar, Shingle Springs, Newcastle, Grass Valley, Lincoln, Rocklin, Lodi, Jackson, Dixon, Elk Grove, Folsom and Yuba City.
