Amber Alert Canceled for 2 North Carolina Children

The State of North Carolina canceled the Amber Alert after the children were recovered safe in Alexander County, NC, near Winston-Salem. The suspect committed suicide after a two hour standoff with police. The suspect was also suspected in a triple homicide in Candler on Thursday.

Hayes Heatwole is a 6-year-old White male, approximately 3 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 45 pounds. He has blond- long shaggy hair, and blue eyes.

Haley Heatwole is a 10-year-old White female, approximately 4 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 62 pounds. She has brown-shoulder length hair, and hazel eyes. Scar on her forehead that extends to the bridge of her nose.

The suspect is Richard Doughlas Heatwole a 45 year old white male, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 165 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes.



The suspect vehicle is a White 1986 Toyota Truck Extended Cab with NC tag number YNS-8257. The vehicle possibly has a camper cover that is white in color. The truck may have gold stripes and rusted fender wells.
