| I am a trainee EMT at my fire house and I have heard some horror and funny stores. I was wondering if any one else would like to share their stories? I start my EMT class in January and can't wait! =D | |

| I run on a rescue squad down home, and yeah we've seen some calls that really makes us stop and scratch our heads. Like the guy that was walking down the side of the road and was hit by a deer. And exactly how does one manage to get stuck halfway through an air intake vent? Just plain funny since no one was really hurt in either case. Then there's the lonely elderly lady who calls almost daily for things like a stubbed toe. I kind of feel bad when we get those calls. The horror stories I'd rather not post, and I'm sure no one really wants to hear them anyway.
Stories, jokes, and general BSing around the break room are some of the best parts of being on a rescue- or any other kind of squad, team, whatever. I am somewhat jealous that you have the time to go for EMT, I only have First Responder and that's about to run out. I have no idea when I'm going to be able to recert. Gettin' a little worried about that...

| haha Please tell me that the guy that got hit by the deer walking down the street was either highly intoxicated or on some kind of drug!
When I was a mall Guard we use to have this elderly man once a week that would complain about having a heart attack and ask us to call for an ambulance. After like a month the EMT's told us that he was a homeless guy that didn't like staying at the shelter for long so he will go out to places and act sick. Even ppl at my station still talk about this man. Eventually the police intervened and he was placed in jail for a night and told that unless he was truely sick not to call anymore. I felt bad for him.
I haven't been on any calls yet but I have heard some horror stories from an abused infant that ended up dying to a train crash with multiple casualties.
Are you still on the Rescue Squad? Is that a volunteer position for you? It is hard to schedule classes around a full time job, taking care of a handi capped mother, have time to be at the station, gym time and study time for the Police department, and try to have a social life but it will all be worth it in the end. I love to help ppl and I can't wait to be able to ride the apparatus!

| I am still on the squad. It's a volunteer squad- we do it for fun I'm what we refer to as an associate member- I run when I can, mostly on prescheduled standbys and things like that because it's the only way to get squad hours in around class and the part time job. | |

| Most annoying call? A traffic complaint by a citizen, who can't give an accurate description and refuses to sign a complain. If you're gunna complain, do it right! Have some intestinal fortitude, for God's sake! | |

| LOL TallTacoma.
Kind of like the signed refusal calls we get. If you're going to call 911 and ask for an ambulance, why would you then refuse transport?
